Welcome to The New Wave!

Hi friends! This article is mostly a placeholder that I'm putting here until I can spend the time it takes to put up a bunch of articles and podcasts on this website, but until then, I thought I'd really quickly introduce myself and this website!

My name is Drew and I am a songwriter and college student based in Nashville, TN. I love Jesus and music, but I haven't always loved Jesus Music (maybe you can relate!). As the way people make and discover music has shifted, I've seen more and more artists putting out faith-based music that I actually enjoy, and early this year, I made the decision that I wanted to be a part of that movement, and so I started this platform.

The New Wave in its current form has three parts: Instagram, articles, and podcasts. Our Instagram is designed to be an easy space for people to discover and engage with our content. On our page, we want to help people stay up to date on the artists doing awesome things in Christian music, and also want to help them find artists that they might never have heard about otherwise! Feel free to DM us and say hey :)

I am working on rolling out our articles feature right now (building a website and publishing is not quick work haha). On this page, I am really excited to have space for longer form discussion about faith and music. I'm excited to see what this evolved into, but right now I am hoping to do some music reviews, some deep dives into artists and albums, and also do some thinking about what it means to be creative as someone who's ultimate goal is to be like the Creator! I'm also hoping to have guest writers and potentially even consistent collaborators on this blog, so let me know if that's your thing and I'd love to chat.

The thing I might be most excited for is our podcast. Depending on if I remember to update this, the podcast might already be out, but right now I'm working on reaching out to artists in The New Wave, and am really excited to hang with them and dive into their music, stories, and passions. Hosting a podcast has always been a dream of mine, so I think I'm going to have a lot of fun doing it! If you're an artist I've covered and you're reading it, hit me up on IG or our Contact page and let's make a conversation happen!

Anyways, that's all for now... thanks for checking us out and PLEASE pray for me and this platform as it gets rolled out! God calls us to sing new songs and He deserves our best, so I think it's time He gets it.

"Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things; his right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him." Psalm 98:1

Gable Price & Friends Call Out Mega-Church Madness In New Song "Too Good"

Indie Christian band Gable Price & Friends have been releasing catchy, honest music about the faith for years, and their new song “Too Good” is yet another step in that direction. A few days ago, the band released a track directly calling out unhealthy practices in many churches, even capitalizing on a viral Druski skit to promote the song. Through all of the clever lines and bold takes, they’ve still managed to find hope though… that God is still good in all of it. This kind of song is a fantastic jumping off point to talk about the state of the Church and how (if at all) it should be called out.

Opinion: Bad Bunny's Halftime Show Was (At Its Core) Deeply Christian

Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl LX Halftime Performance has been the center of debate and controversy since it was announced, especially within American Christian circles. As that conversation has gone on, complete with an alternate “All-American” show, rumors of cross-dressing, and blatant critique from the president, I’ve been watching and sorting through the outrage, trying to discern what Christ would actually think of the show. This article is my wrestling and my conclusion to that, and by the end of it, I hope anyone reading is able to see the heart of God more clearly through the halftime show and through my thoughts.
